Madeline E. Caron, 104, of Cumberland and formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 19, 2021. She was the wife of the late Edward Caron. They were happily married for 52 years. Born in Rock Island, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late William Sackenheim and the late Hilda (Hartman) Jirsa. Madeline was a computer operator for the former Old Colony Cooperative Bank, now Citizens Bank. She loved music and belonged to the RI Strummers until she was 101. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, crossword puzzles, and learning new things. She was also a pilot, flying until she was 80 years old and was a member of the Ninety-Niners. What Madeline loved most of all was the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Squillacci and her husband Peter of Cumberland, two grandchildren, Lynn Squillacci of Cumberland and Sheryl Sharpe of Smithfield. She also leaves two great grandchildren, Nate and Tim Sharpe, both of Smithfield. She was the mother of the late Edward Caron Jr. and the sister of the late Mary McKenna.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service Thursday at 11:30 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Visiting hours Thursday from 10 AM - 11:30 AM in the Funeral Home, prior to the service.
The Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's , Research Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777, or the American Parkinson's Disease Association, RI Chapter, PO Box 41659, Providence, RI 02940, in memory of Madeline, would be appreciated.
The family requests that all guests please wear face covering in the funeral home.
