William J. McGrory, 91, of Pawtucket, and formerly of Cumberland, passed away with his family by his side Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was the loving and devoted husband of Joan (Lesowski) McGrory. They were happily married for 43 years. He was the former husband of the late Geraldine (Comolli) McGrory. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Alexander A. and Sarah (O'Brien) McGrory. He was the brother of the late Alexander J. McGrory and Francis McGrory. He resided in Coventry before moving to Cumberland. William was a graduate of Seton Hall Preparatory School and Seton Hall University, New Jersey. He was employed by the A. C. Nielsen Market Research Company for thirty-five years as a field representative. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as an officer in the Military Police Corps. He was a past member of the Msgr. Blessing Coventry Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of Saint Aidan Church, Cumberland. William was an avid reader and member the Telecom-Pioneers.
Joan and Bill enjoyed travelling, music, theatre, ballroom dancing, spending time at the ocean and especially spending time with family and friends. They were volunteers at the Jeanne Jugan Residence. They cherished being part of the family of the residents and Sisters of the Jeanne Jugan, Little Sisters of the Poor community.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, William McGrory and Timothy McGrory and a daughter, Kathleen Marie Cahill. He also leaves two stepchildren, Anthony Savoie and Donna Marie Schuster, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 27th at 10:30 AM in the Chapel at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860, in memory of Bill, would be greatly appreciated.
