Obituary

William Joseph Moss Sr. 1923-2023 and Margaret Teresa Jones Moss 1928-2023

William Joseph Moss Sr. sadly passed away, March 6, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born April 4,1923 in Pawtucket, RI to Charles C. and Anna Heaney Moss.

Margaret Teresa Jones Moss sadly passed away May 5, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born in Pawtucket, RI to Charles and Margaret Healey Jones of Pawtucket. Their Great Grandson, Oliver Self, Daughter in-law, Jayne Moss, and their loving daughter Maureen Moss Self precede them in death.

Bill graduated from Pawtucket High School and joined the US Army Corp of Engineers in 1943 - 1946, (E-4), Special Forces 1007th Division. He served in the China-Burma Theater, building bridges to support troop movement. After being discharged from the Army, he worked for Major Electric Supply Company in Pawtucket, RI as the sales manager, he worked there for 40 years. He also was a life long NASCAR fan.

He married the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) Jones on October 6,1951.

Margaret graduated from East High in Pawtucket, RI. She was a devoted homemaker and mother of five children and lived in Pawtucket until her husband retired, then they relocated to Florida to be closer to their children, grandchildren, and great grand children. Peggy volunteered at Curtis Memorial School in Pawtucket; she was part of the Head Start Program for preschoolers. She was an avid reader and loved playing the piano. Her positive energy and loving ways will be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.

They both were very devoted Catholics who spent many years volunteering at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Pawtucket, RI and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kissimmee, FL. They were also members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud, FL.

They are survived by their four children; Peggy Ann (John) O'Neil of West Warwick, RI, William J. Moss Jr. (Betty) of Kissimmee FL, Michael J. Moss, (Jayne) of TN, Kathleen A. Moss Raines (Rick) of St. Cloud, FL. They also leave nine grand children and seven great-grand children.

A Catholic mass was held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Cloud, FL. on April 5, 2023 for Bill and a Catholic mass was also held at St. Thomas Catholic Church in St. Cloud, FL for Margaret on June 5, 2023.

Our parents were kind and loving people, they loved each other to the very end, and they were an inspiration to others. Though their physical presence is gone, the Moss family and friends strive to keep both their spirits vibrant in their hearts.

We thought it would be fitting to have them together again on their 72nd Wedding Anniversary, October 6, 2023. They will be buried together at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Friday, October 6th at 11:00 AM.

Arrangements are through Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket RI 02860.
