William K. Harter, born April 22, 1932 (88), passed away on March 13, 2021. Bill earned a PHD in psychology as well as Biblical Studies. He was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Korean war but fortunately served his time stateside. He spent several years on a medical mission in Haiti. As a veteran, Bill was committed to serving his country. He was an avid reader and writer who enjoyed creating and writing articles and puzzles, including word search, for numerous publications. He was a huge supporter of Street Sights which serves as a forum for advocates, homeless and formally homeless people, students, state officials and the general public to share information about issues related to homelessness. Bill was an active member in his community, as well as his church community. Bill loved vacationing by the water in Newport, RI and enjoying swimming and all daily activities. He had been married for 50 years prior to his wife's passing.
Friends and family are kindly invited to a funeral service in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home on Friday, March 19th at 2:00PM. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00PM. Due to the current restrictions, masks and social distancing is required, as well as a limited number of people allowed in the funeral home at one time.
