Walter Everett Ethier, 86, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Hoyer) Ethier. Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late David and Emily (Lang) Ethier. Walter was an army veteran of the Korean War, receiving two Bronze Stars. He worked for Owens Corning Fiberglass for many years before retiring. He then worked at the Cumberland Town Hall, retiring at age 80.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Ethier Sr. and his wife, Cheryl, Ann Marie, and Amy Ethier; two grandchildren, Michael Ethier Jr. and Marci L. Ethier Richards, three great-grandchildren, Landon M. Richards, Georgia K. and Noah E. Ethier, and his brother, Raymond Ethier. He was the brother of the late Gilbert, Alvin, Hebert, and David Ethier. A Service will be held Friday at 11AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours 9:30-11AM, prior to the Service in the O'Neill Funeral Home.
