Obituary

Virginia A. Savage, formerly of Pawtucket and a winter resident of Naples Florida, died Saturday July 11, 2009 at Roberts Health Center in North Kingstown. She was the wife of the late Dr. John L. Savage.
Mrs. Savage was born in Providence, the daughter of the late William J. and Mary F. (Riley) Palmer and the stepdaughter of the late John J. McArdle.
She graduated from Rhode Island College with a B.A. in Education and earned her Masters in Library Science from the University of Rhode Island. Mrs. Savage taught elementary school in Cranston, Warwick, and Baltimore MD and then served as a librarian in the Pawtucket School System. She was a reader for INSIGHT Rhode Island for many years.
Mrs. Savage is survived by her children, Anne E.S. Carty DNSc of North Kingstown, Mary Lou Savage, Esq, of Maryland, Bro. John L. Savage,OFM of Jerusalem,Israel, Paul A. Savage, Esq, of New Hampshire, and James S. Savage MBA of Cumberland, and her four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brendan, and Andrew Carty and Amy-Jean Bessette.
The funeral for Mrs. Savage will be Wednesday at 11:00am from the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa"s Church, 358 Newport Ave, Pawtucket at 12:00 pm. Her burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. The calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7pm in the funeral home.
