Vincent S. Gretchner Jr., 92, of Pawtucket, passed into eternal life on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Sullivan) Gretchner. Born in Providence, Mr. Gretchner was the son of the late Vincent Sr. and Stacia (Kanaczet) Gretchner.
Vincent was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence and served his country in the Army National Guard. He was a proud member of Teamsters Local 251. He worked as a truck driver for United Parcel Services for 34 years until his retirement in 1994. In his early years Vinnie enjoyed skiing, camping, fishing and listening to Polish music. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time in Fort Myers, Florida where he was a member of the Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Vincent is survived by his daughters Jo-Anne Lasso, Audrey Nordquist and her husband John, Gail Gretchner and her companion Carol Nozolino, and Helene Johnson. His grandchildren, Sheri Lasso, Nicole Nordquist, Sarah Goodwin and her husband Rick, and Jacob Gretchner. His great grandchildren, Natasha Antoine, Trinity Barata, and Ava Johnson. His great-great grandchildren, Aria Antoine, and Jaelee Perez. He also leaves his brother Edward Gretchner, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Arcisz and his brother Frederick Gretchner.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to his compassionate caregiver Josie, along with all his other care givers.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent on Friday, April 4th at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish Church, 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. His burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. The calling hours for Mr. Gretchner will be on Thursday, April 3rd from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
