Vincent A. Flynn Jr., 88, of North Kingstown and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 31, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Donna Lee (Nowak) Flynn. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Vincent and Valeria (Strokes) Flynn. He was an army veteran of the Korean War. Vinnie had a long career that spanned over 55 years in the automotive industry, including ownership of Flynn Auto Sales of Seekonk and Hilltop Motors of Swansea.
Those who knew "Big Vin" will remember him as a confident, outgoing and gregarious individual. Before his automotive career, he honed his skills selling Fuller Brush products and life insurance door to door. A devoted Dad and Grandpa, he could always be found cheering and critiquing (LOL) the many sporting events of his children and grandchildren; he never missed a game. He was an avid tennis player in his younger years and was a strong supporter of all New England sports, including the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox and the PC Friars. He hosted many watch parties for these events at his house. Big Vin loved games of chance and skill, especially cards, shooting pool and watching boxing and horse racing. What he enjoyed most of all was spending time with Donna and family vacationing at Newfound Lake in NH, and in South County, RI as well as boating and fishing all over Narragansett Bay and Block Island Sound. He was a humbled friend of Bill and could be counted on to support those in need. His infectious, likable personality will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children, Kathleen McImail and her husband William, Pamela Thayer and her husband Michael, and Vincent A. Flynn III and his partner, Laurissa Burns. He leaves two grandchildren, Alex Thayer and his fiancé, Lily Moreno, and Dr. Julie Ann Thayer and her husband Michael Zerdelian; and two great grandchildren, Adaline Thayer and Sosi Zerdelian. He was predeceased by his sisters, Martha Rivest and Theresa Ethier and also leaves his niece and nephews.
