Terry Massouda (Fico), 92, passed away at her home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Saturday, June 13, 2026. She was the last surviving sibling of six, preceded in death by Philomena Cassidy, PhD; Margaret Capasso; Joseph Fico, DDS; Anthony Fico, DDS, FACP; and Anne Mele. She is survived by her loving daughter, Cay C. Massouda, Esq., of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
A dedicated wife, mother, and a career woman ahead of her time, Terry earned her bachelor’s degree from Bryant University on a full four-year scholarship. She was a pioneer in educational television, appearing regularly on "The World Around Us" with Betty Adams. She also taught at the graduate level at her alma mater, Bryant University, where she took great pride in teaching World War II veterans.
A lifelong lover of languages, Terry was fluent in French, Italian, and Latin. She served as a substitute teacher in the Providence and Pawtucket school systems for over 12 years before earning her Master’s in Social Work from Providence College. As a therapist, she worked alongside her husband, the late Robert A. Massouda, M.D., a prominent child psychiatrist who practiced for over 30 years in the Providence, Pawtucket, and East Bay areas.
Terry was an active member of her community, serving as a public relations coordinator for Butler Hospital and volunteering at various animal shelters. Known for her fabulous sense of style, she was an avid gardener, a passionate cook of Italian and Egyptian cuisine, and a devoted lover of animals. She also had a great fondness for fresh tomatoes and McDonald’s Quarter Pounders with cheese.
Her smile, laughter, and positivity will be deeply missed.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
