Obituary

Steven F. DiTomasso passed unexpectedly on September 8, 2025. Born in Providence RI he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Palumbo) DiTomasso.

He is survived by his 3 children, Marc DiTomasso and his wife Kristine, Kristi DiTomasso, Allie Murphy and her husband Michael. He was the loving Papa of Tyler and Alexa DiTomasso, and Jack Murphy. He is survived also by his brother John DiTomasso and his wife Joyce, nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Tolman High School in 1969, he served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was an active Teamster and proud member of local 251 for 50 years. Steve loved to spend his time outdoors whether hunting with friends, fishing with his family, or finding new trails in the woods. He was a member of the Cumberland Beagle Club, the Italian Workingmen's Club of Woonsocket, the Garfield Social Club, and served as Chaplain for the American Legion - Post 79. He was happiest when surrounded by people he loved, and there was no shortage of that.

His care for others extended beyond family and friends. Steve spent many afternoons adorning the grave sites of veterans with American flags, as well as organizing and cooking game dinners at which all proceeds benefited local veterans. He spent every January 1st for the last 35 years in Jamestown at the Penguin Plunge raising money for the RI Special Olympics, even earning the honor of "excelsior".

Visitation will take place Sunday, September 14th from 2pm – 5pm in the ONeill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland, at 10am on Monday, September 15th. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 259 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland.
