Obituary

Sister Patricia Keilty of the Trinity, a Carmelite Nun for over 70 years, entered into the joy of the Lord on January 3, 2023. She lived 102 years with great reverence and gratitude for her vocation. She was born in Lynn Massachusetts to Mary Agnes (Waldron) and Thomas Keilty on April 18, 1920, both recent immigrants from Ireland.  Her two younger siblings, Barbara and John predeceased her. She was as devoted to her many surviving nieces and nephews and their families as they have been to her. When asked for words of wisdom for them, she simply stated "Love God".

Before entering Carmel in Roxbury, Massachusetts she followed in her aunt's footsteps and received an RN degree from Salem Hospital. Her true vocation was religious life but she used her nursing skills for the sisters who needed medical care. For most of her years as a Carmelite, Patricia was a beloved member of the Community in Barrington Rhode Island. She enjoyed greeting people who came to the monastery; engaging in conversations that were always enlightening and entertaining. She had a strong intellectual curiosity in diverse subjects; she enjoyed music, writing, and reading particularly as they related to spirituality and the liturgy.

Patricia's love for God and fidelity to the Carmelite Way, was grounded in community life and God's grace.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 9th at 11:00 AM in St. Luke's Church, 108 Washington Road, Barrington. Her calling hours will be from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Church, prior to the Mass.
