Seena J. Stern, 87, of Barrington, RI and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 01, 2024. She was married to the love of her life, who she lost way too early, the late Fred Stern. Theirs was truly a love affair for the ages. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Max and Leah Troob.
She is survived by her children, Lloyd Stern and his wife Abby, and Cynthia Stern Lynch and her husband, Patrick. She adored her grandchildren, the late Max Schloss, Zoe Schloss, Toby Stern, and Noah Stern. Seena also leaves a brother, Bruce Troob.
Seena was a hot ticket who was never at a loss for words, and fiercely loyal to those she loved. After the loss of Fred, she later created a new life in Florida surrounded by friends, the ocean and golf. Ultimately, Seena always returned to her home, Barrington, RI. She was a true artist in every sense of the word. A classically trained pianist, oil painter, and business woman. She shared her love for needlepoint and knitting by teaching others. She was, in fact, a needlepoint wizard. Seena volunteered at a variety of places prior to opening her store, Creative Needlework. She was the treasurer and longtime congregant at Barrington's Temple Habonim, a den mother, and a brownie troop leader. She also volunteered at Planned Parenthood and cooked at Ronald McDonald House.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, March 4th at 12:30 PM in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington. Shiva will be observed Monday, March 4th at the residence of her daughter, Cynthia Stern Lynch from 7:00-9:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Seena's name to The Max Schloss Endowment Fund c/o Hasbro Children's Hospital , 593 Eddy Street, Providence, RI 02903 or the Nashoba Learning Group , Attn: Development Office, 10 Park Drive, Bedford, MA 01730, would be greatly appreciated.
