Obituary

Sandra M. Gamba Smith, 76, of Providence, passed into eternal life on February 25, 2026. She was the loving wife of Gerald Smith. They had been married for over fifty years. Sandra was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of Louis Gamba and Ebe (Taddei) Gamba.

She was a school teacher in the Providence and Pawtucket School System. With her love for teaching she taught for over 40 years at Nathaniel Greene, Feinstein, and Saint Raphael Academy. She was a RIC graduate and a member of RIMTA, NCTM, RILAG, Sons of Italy, and a long-time activist against violence.

Besides her husband Gerald, Sandra is survived by her daughter Andrea Henderson, and her husband Wilkins of Cranston. She also leaves behind a son, Gregory Rhone Smith, and his wife, Kasey, of Oklahoma, as well as her grandchildren: Ava Marie, Meikah, Felix, Arianna, Savannah, and Victoria. Sandra also leaves her brother Joseph Gamba and his wife Holly of Attleboro, MA. She was the sister of the late Lola Gamba Wright.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:00 AM in St. Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Her calling hours will be on Monday, March 2nd from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.

Sandra's burial will take place in the family lot at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery in Pawtucket.
