Ruth M. Johnson, 88, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Sweet) Macomber. She was the loving wife to the late Donald Johnson. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and a proud graduate of Cumberland High School, Class of 1954. Ruth worked as a secretary in the medical industry for many years prior to retiring at age 70.

Ruth found immense joy in watching her family grow, especially as she welcomed two great-grandsons in the past year. She cherished time spent with loved ones—whether gathering with family or enjoying the company of friends. Ruth had a warm, engaging presence, and her radiant smile could light up any room. One of her greatest joys was sharing summers on Block Island with her family, a beloved tradition they've upheld for the past 32 years.

She is survived by her children: Richard Mitchell, Kimberly McCormick, Dominic Mitchell, Kristen Mitchell and fiancé Jeff Jarry, and Charlene Mitchell. Ruth is also survived by her stepchildren: Michael Johnson, Christian Johnson, Ryan Johnson, and Kathy Johnson. She also leaves her loving grandchildren: Alexandria, Kassidy, Kenzie, Shea, Lauren, Caitlin, Moira, Colin, and Tayla, as well as her great grandchildren: Logan, Zachary, Connor, Noah, and Riegan. Ruth is also survived by her dear cousin Joan Mildred (Provost) Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews in RI, TN, and FL. Ruth was predeceased by her siblings, Shirley Jacques, and Patricia Sullivan, as well as her great grandsons, Lucas and Tyler White.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM in Historic St. Joseph's Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 23rd from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.
