Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the loving son of the late Joseph G. Anter and Anne (Abraham) Anter. He is survived by his siblings, George Anter of Cumberland, RI (wife Ellen), Carole Anter Hanks of California, Hope Chopy of Narragansett, RI and Daniel Anter of Florida (wife Tamara). A former parishioner of St. Ephraim's Syriac Orthodox Church, he became a devotee of Paramahansa Yogananda, worshiping at Self Realization Fellowship Center, Unitarian Church and Ananda Church of Rhode Island.
Ron was a friend of Bill W's for over 42 years and became a sponsor, mentor, friend and example to countless numbers of people. He planted seeds of love and compassion in all who knew him.
He never married but considered his goddaughter, Dara, to be a surrogate daughter and his friend David C., to be a surrogate son/brother.
Ron enjoyed meditation above all else, but seldom missed a Boston Celtics game having played basketball in his youth with his brother, George, in the church leagues. Dubbed the unofficial Mayor of Providence, for he seemed to know everyone everywhere he went, Ron was always ready with a friendly smile and an open heart to converse with anyone that he met.
His bright and happy demeanor, his friendship and boundless spiritual love will be greatly missed by his fellow devotees and countless dear friends.
May his beautiful soul rest in the arms of the Divine. The world will be a little bit drearier without his special shine.
