Roderick L. Ryan, 86, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with his family by his side Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Zienowicz) Ryan. They were happily married for 66 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late George and Laura (Boothroyd) Ryan. He was a Marine veteran, served for ten years on the Providence Police Department, and then graduated from Providence College. Rod was the Deputy Director of the Rhode Island Judicial Systems and Sciences where he developed and implemented the RI Warrant System that is still used today throughout the country, retiring in 2000.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Rod Ryan Jr. and his wife Kathleen, and Susan Froment and her husband David; his grandchildren, Patrick Ryan and his wife Erin, Brendan Ryan and his wife Katherine, Colin Froment and Caroline Froment. He also leaves six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Shirley Pratt and George Ryan.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 AM in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 19th from 4:00-6:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.
