Robert "Mopar Bob" Lachut

Robert G. Lachut, 70, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Bob was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. He was the son of the late Michael Lachut and Catherine (Kachard) Lachut.

Bob was a very conscientious auto mechanic for over 50 years. He started working on cars with his father in his driveway when he was fourteen years old. He attended Rhode Island Trade Shop School in Providence and graduated as an automotive mechanic.

He worked at Firestone Auto Center in Providence for over ten years. He then started his own auto repair business before being employed by Apex Tire and Service Center in Pawtucket for over twenty-four years.

Bob was a very meticulous auto mechanic and enjoyed helping people. His hobbies were buying / selling / trading auto parts, attending classic car cruise nights, car shows and drag racing. He won many trophies over the years at these events with his classic and drag racing cars. He also used to custom create automotive keepsakes.

A funeral service was held for Bob on October 3rd at the Manning - Heffern - O'Neill Funeral Home in Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery Pawtucket.
