Richard I. Fickle Sr., 90, of North Smithfield, formally a longtime resident of Lincoln, RI, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. He was married for 62 years to his beloved wife, the late Jacqueline (Piccolo) Fickle . Richard was born in Wayne, Nebraska, and was the son of the late Ivan and Helen (Thompson) Fickle.
After serving in the Navy for 6 years, he worked as an electrician for New England Machine & Electric, Slator Dye Works, Amtrol Inc. as well as a private Electrician, for many years before retiring.
Richard is survived by his children Richard Fickle Jr. and Trish Lovering. He was predeceased by his two daughters Catherine Fickle and Jo-Ann Hayhurst. Richard was the father-in-law to Toby Lovering and Jim Hayhurst. He also leaves two grandchildren that he adored, Savannah Lovering and Ashley Hayhurst. He is also survived by his sister Marcella Wells of Kansas. He was the brother of the late Patty O'Connell, Nancy Landanger, Dolly Fickle, James Fickle, Jack Fickle, Charles Fickle, Peggy Fickle, and Babe Fickle.
Family and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Thursday, March 28th at 6:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. The burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held prior to the Funeral Service on Thursday from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Richard's memory can be made to The Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601.
