Obituary

Regina A. Partridge, 84, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2025. She was the beloved wife of John J. "Jack" Partridge. They were happily married for 59 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Peckham) McDonald. Regina started her art career as an elementary school teacher in the Pawtucket School Department. She was a graduate of Tolman High School, 1958, and earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education at Rhode island College. She was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in fine arts from Rhode island College in 2012.

Regina was a long-time artist member of the Providence Art Club and several other local and national arts organizations including the Art league of Rhode Island, and Pawtucket Arts Collaborative. She also served a three year term as vice- chair of the Rhode Island State Arts Council and was a frequent exhibitor of her mono prints, pastels and other works. For 19 years, she was a partner with her friend Lisa Goddard in Studio Goddard- Partridge, a print making studio and gallery on Exchange Street in the Arts District of Pawtucket.

She received many prizes and awards over her decades in the arts, her pieces are in the collections of many individuals as well as businesses, such as Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Woman's and Infants Hospital, Cambridge Savings Bank, First Bank of New Britain Connecticut, Bice's Ristaurante Internationale in Las Vegas, Nevada and New York City, and galleries and restaurants in Newport and Massachusetts. Annually, she was invited to exhibit at the Uwiang International Print and Poster Exhibition in Bosan, South Korea.

She loved her summer residence in Shelter Harbor, Westerly Rhode Island and said she was inspired by the seacoast and landscapes there. She and her husband made seven trips to Tuscany and other regions of Italy which provided her with many memories that were recalled in her art, particularly her series of landscapes of the Italian agricultural region known as  the Tuscan Crete. Her visions of Glacier Bay in the Gulf of Alaska were also notable achievements. Her courageous fight with Parkinson's disease was an inspiration to her family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, David J.W. Partridge of Westerly, Rhode island, Gregory J. Partridge, of Los Angles, California and Sarah Grace Partridge of Brooklyn, New York. She also leaves her brother, Paul McDonald and his wife Pauline of St. Mary's, Georgia, and her cousins Roy and Anne Marie Peckham of Sandwich, Massachusetts, and many nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 92 Hope Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
