Obituary

Raymond M. Gannon, 102, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Gunning) Gannon. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Matthew and Anna (Dunleavy) Gannon. He was a proud navy veteran of World War II, flying in a PBY/Catalina over the North Atlantic. Ray had a career as a salesman and later served as the assistant director of Housing for the Pawtucket Housing Authority before retiring. For the last 29 years Ray worked tirelessly and joyfully to support the mission of the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen.

He is survived by his children, Helen Gannon and her wife Susan LaPorte, Patrick Gannon and his wife Carol and his daughter in law, Susan L. Gannon. He also leaves his grandchildren, Christine Prescott, Jacqueline Gannon, Sean Gannon, Merrill Gannon, and his great-grandson, Ian Prescott. He was the father of the late Raymond Gannon Jr. Ray also leaves behind all the members of the Malloy family, each of whom were near and dear to his heart. In addition Ray was the brother of the late Mary McHale, Margaret Durkin, Joseph, John, Thomas, Agnes, and Matthew Gannon. Lastly, we would like to thank the wonderful team from Roberts Nursing Centre for their compassionate care of our father.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on March 20th Monday at 10:00 Am in Saint Joseph Church of Holy Family Parish, 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are on Sunday, March 19th from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pawtucket Soup Kitchen , 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI, 02860, in memory of Ray, would be greatly appreciated.
