Dr. Pierre M. Lachance, 90, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Martine (Michaud) Lachance for many cherished years. Born in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada, he was the son of the late Philippe and Jeanne (Lemieux) Lachance.

Dr. Lachance dedicated his life to medicine as a skilled dermatologist, practicing in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and later in Lewiston, Maine. His compassionate care and commitment to his patients left an enduring legacy in both communities. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Lachance was an avid fly fisherman and his love for fishing brought him peace and joy. In his youth, he was also passionate about hockey and spent countless hours skating and playing hockey on the Chaudière River.

He is survived by his three children: Eric Lachance and his wife Eileen Deignan-Lachance of Cumberland; Martin Lachance and his wife Cathie (McCoy) Lachance; and Marie-Pierre Lachance. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Liliana and Ceili Lachance; Declan, Aine, Isolde, and Nola Lachance.

Dr. Lachance will be remembered for his kindness, dedication to family, and passion for his profession. His warmth and sense of humor touched the lives of all who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, funeral services and burial will be private.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in his memory.
