Rev. Normand Courtemanche, 83, of Manville, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2023. Born in Manville, he was the son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Tremblay) Courtemanche. Father Courtemanche studied at Our Lady of Providence Seminary, Warwick Neck, RI, and St. Paul Seminary, University of Ottawa, Canada. He was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence on June 5, 1965. He served as an assistant at St. John the Evangelist Parish, Slatersville, St. John's Parish, Warren, St. Patrick's Parish, Harrisville, Precious Blood Parish, Woonsocket, and St. Philip Parish, Greenville. He was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Consolation Parish, Pawtucket in 1991 until his retirement in May 2009. Father Normand was associated with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and served in various positions from September 1969 until his retirement in 2009. He was awarded the title of Honorary Brother on June 20, 1992. He enjoyed travelling, gardening, fine food, and cooking. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Gadoury, seven nieces and one nephew. He was the brother of the late Rita Courtemanche and Jeanne Chevrette. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, April 26 ^th at 10 AM in Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery. Visiting hours respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint James Church, in memory of Rev. Courtemanche, would be greatly appreciated.
