Obituary

Norman Duane Swisher Jr., 73, of Orlando, FL, formerly of Rehoboth, MA, and Pawtucket, RI, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday September 23, 2025. He was the loving husband of Patricia (Keenan) Swisher for 52 years.

Born in Gary, IN, he was the son of the late Mildred (Moran) Swisher Macchia and Norman D. Swisher Sr. He attended Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN. Norman served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a Machinist Mate. After serving the country, Norman worked as a welder at U.S. Steel in Indiana. He also worked at Brown and Sharpe and at Cumberland Engineering. Before retiring, he also worked at The ARC of Blackstone Valley.

Besides his wife, Norman is survived by his daughters, Kelly Colson and her husband, Christopher, and Laurie Casler and her husband, Timothy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who were the light of his life: Kayla Colson, Sarah Colson, Ryan Colson, and Abigail Casler. He is also survived by his bonus granddaughter, Veronica Steinhaus, her husband, Drew, and their children, Sam and Luke. Norman was the brother of Rickey Swisher and the late Paul Swisher, and the brother-in-law of Laura Swisher and Wendy Swisher. He was the stepson of the late Mike D. Macchia.

Norman was a proud member of The American Legion for 50 years. He was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Cubs fan for his entire life. He loved working on cars and was our all-around Mr. Fix-It. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, and walking his little buddy, Manny.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 3, 2025 , at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 103 Pine Street, Pawtucket, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, RI.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Florida Little Dog Rescue to help with care for dogs, like Norm's buddy Manny.
