Michael Nickson,68, of Florida and formerly of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Eileen (Emery) Nickson. They were happily married for forty-seven years. \r
Born in Central Falls, RI he was the son of the late James and Anna (Tretton) Nickson. He lived in Cumberland for thirty years before moving to Florida six years ago. \r
Michael was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a produce manager for the former Almacs Supermarket for thirty years and later worked for Jerry''s Market of West Warwick, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and gardening. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family. \r
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Kelley Morris, Dawn Bedard, and Michael Nickson, two brothers, John and Henry Nickson, and four grandchildren, Alec, Rachel, Anna, and Charlotte. He was the brother of the late Agnes Flanagan and James Nickson. \r
The funeral will be held Thursday at 9am from the O'NEILL FUNERAL HOME, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8pm. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. \r
