Obituary

Michael R. Johnston, 54, of Pawtucket, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 24, 2022. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Raymond and Maureen (Doherty) Johnston. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket and a proud graduate of Tolman High School he worked at Russell Morin Catering & Events.

Mike loved his family, especially spending time with his daughter Brittany and granddaughter Ava. He was proud of his Irish heritage and had an infectious smile and laugh that traveled everywhere. Cooking was his passion and he showed it off by making corned beef and cabbage dinners for St. Patrick's Day. He loved playing pool and meeting friends at Quinn's Pub, riding his bike, and listening to rock and country music as well as his time at Fisherman's Camp Ground and Scarborough Beach. He was an avid fan of the Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and the Providence College Friars. Known to many friends and family as "Icka".

He is survived by his daughter Brittany Giroux, granddaughter Ava Marie, brother Paul "PJ" Johnston of Pawtucket, sisters Laurie Boisclair, and her late husband David Boisclair of Cumberland, and Kerrin Mitchell and her husband William Mitchell of Seekonk. He was uncle Mike to David, Kenneth, Meghan, Patrick, Raymond, Jennifer, and Christopher. He was the brother of the late Raymond and Kenneth Johnston.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, Dec.2, 2022, at 10:00 am. at Saint Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect St, Pawtucket, RI 02860. Visiting hours Thursday, Dec.1, 2022, from 4-7 pm in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
