Mary A. Shea, 81, of East Providence, died on January 19, 2025. The daughter of Irish immigrants, Michael Nagle (County Galway) and Catharine Reynolds Nagle (County Cavan), Mary grew up in Pawtucket and graduated from Tolman in 1960. She graduated from the RI Hospital School of Nursing in 1963 and began her career as an operating room nurse before working in many area hospitals. At one time, she was the industrial nurse at the Narragansett Brewery.
Mary's late son, Michael, brought her much joy: they enjoyed picnicing on the beach and watching movies together. She loved traveling, dancing, fashion, and flowers, the latter of which fabulously decorated her house in Middletown.
Mary is survived by her siblings Catherine Nagle and her husband Henry May; James Nagle and his wife, Susan; her niece Kate Nagle and nephews Patrick May and Kevin Nagle; and by her cousins and many relatives in Ireland.
Mary survived COVID and was in the ICU for 10 days in January, 2020.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Evergreen Health Center for the loving care they showed Mary.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 25th at 11:00 AM in the Holy Family Parish Church (St. Joseph's) 195 Walcott St., Pawtucket. Her calling hours will be on Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 AM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, prior to the Mass.
The Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Special Olympics at 370 George Washington Highway, Smithfield RI 02917.
