Marta (Karlsdottir, Flanagan) Cahalan 92, who lived in Cumberland, Rhode Island for several years, left us to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025. She was born in Iceland on October 29, 1932 to Karl Bjornson and Lilja Einarsdottir.

She lived in Iceland until 1953 and moved to the United States after she met and married John V. Flanagan, Jr who was stationed there. She was tri-lingual speaking Icelandic, Danish and English. She became a United States Citizen in 1961. She worked at the former Reeves Drugstore in North Attleboro, MA for several years and was also the Assistant Manager of Peg Leg Pete's Restaurant in North Attleboro after John's passing in January, 1977.

She married Michael Cahalan in June 1979 and they were married for almost 46 years sharing a very special love. They travelled extensively and especially enjoyed time spent with their family.

She leaves behind her husband, Michael P. Cahalan of Cumberland, Rhode Island and daughters, Ann Marie (Flanagan) Letourneau, married to Ron Letourneau, Catherine (Flanagan, Enos) Cibor, widow of John Cibor, Kristen (Cahalan) Wiese, married to James Wiese, and Kelly Cahalan. She was predeceased by Michelle (Cahalan) Burgess. She also leaves behind four grandsons and one granddaughter, and several great grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her parents and five siblings, all of whom resided in Iceland prior to their death.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM Noon, in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Shepardsville Cemetery, 67 Taunton St., Plainville MA.

Visitation will be prior to the service, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, in the O'Neill Funeral Home.
