Marsha Bush, 75, a 40-year resident of Cumberland, passed away on August 17th after a valiant fight with cancer. Born in Middleboro, MA, the only child of George Mason Ryder and Barbara Ryder, Marsha received degrees in education from Northwestern University, Simmons College and Boston University. She was an English teacher at King Philip Regional and Providence Country Day School and rose to the position of department chair at both schools. Marsha loved competition. She competed in equestrian jumping events and was a long-time member of Forecourt Tennis Club and Abbott Run Valley Club. She became a tennis instructor at Fore Court and also captained a woman's USTA team to three New England Championships. In her later years she moved on to her many beloved dogs and competed in agility and obedience trials throughout New England. Marsha was also an avid gardener.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Kenneth Bush of Cumberland, her daughter Erica Mancini and her husband Angelo of Barrington, her 3 granddaughters and her golden retrievers, Stanley and Teddy.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Thursday, August 24th at 11:00 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Diamond Hill Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd from 4:00-7:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home.
