Lucille Jacqueline Read , 83, daughter of the late John "Jack" Read and Lucille (Maynard) Read, passed away on February 21, 2023, in Providence, RI at the Hope Hospice Center after a brief stay at Miriam Hospital and after a number of years as a resident at Evergreen Nursing Home in East Providence. Lucille had assisted her family at the former Read's Bakery and had maintained her life-long home on Central Avenue in Pawtucket. She was member of the former parish of St. Leo the Great in Pawtucket, attended St. Leo School in that city, and graduated from BayView Academy in East Providence. Lucille was very supportive of the Sisters of Mercy at the former Mt. St. Rita Novitiate in Cumberland and of the Little Sisters of the Poor at the Jean Jugan Residence in Pawtucket. She was quite proud of her very extensive collection of Hummell figurines.

Lucille is survived by cousins and by long-time family friend Michael Lawton of Pawtucket.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Cecilia Church of Pope St. John Paul II Parish on Central Avenue, Pawtucket, on Monday, March 20th, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Daggett Ave., Pawtucket. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
