Joseph F. Banas

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph F. Banas, 89, of Pawtucket, on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Born in North Smithfield, Joseph was the son of the late Francis and Blanche (Jamro) Banas. 

Joe was a dedicated and loving husband to Kathleen (Fitzpatrick) for 68 years, and she survives him. He was a devoted father to his four children, Judith Poirier (Douglas), Barbara Adams (Paul), Karen Banas, and William Banas (Kari). Joe also leaves his loving sister Maryann Carroll. He was predeceased by his sister Victoria Giarrusso. Joe leaves six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A consummate engineer, Joe spent nearly 40 years with Blackstone Valley Electric Company, where he maintained lifelong friendships, notably with William Curry, his closest friend since high school.

After retiring, Joe and Kathleen travelled widely visiting National Parks and making trips to their ancestral homelands of Poland and Ireland. Joe was an avid bowler, golfer, and lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 5 North Street, Seekonk. Burial will follow at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket.

Visitation will take place prior to the Mass, on November 7th, from 9:00 - 10:15 AM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
