Obituary

John R. Howe of North Scituate, Rhode Island, and formerly of East Providence, passed into eternal life on May 14, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Frances (Holmes) Howe who predeceased him in 2016. Mr. Howe was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Wallace Howe and Celia (McCormick) Howe. John served honorably in the US Army. He was a printer for the Pawtucket Times and the Providence Journal for many years.

After he retired, John operated the Pawtucket Carousel at Pawtucket Slater Park from 1997 to 2024. He was an avid classic car lover and was known in the classic car community for his 1968 Dodge Coronet 440.

Mr. Howe is survived by his children, Barry W. Howe and his wife Ruth Johnson-Howe of Lincoln, Robert J. Howe and his wife Mary Ann Hewitt-Howe of North Scituate with whom he made his home, and Jacqueline M. Keegan and her husband Daniel of Pawtucket. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bradd, Krista, Korie, Jon, Evan, Corina, and Rachel. He was the great grandfather of Emily and Ava-Marie.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 23rd at 11:00 AM in St Joseph's Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, Rhode Island. His calling hours will be in the church, prior to the Mass, on Friday from 9:30 - 11:00 AM. His burial will be with full military honors in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
