John "Jack" Frederick Machowski, of Manchester, Vermont, passed into eternal life on December 2, 2022, after a brief illness. Jack was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late John and Grace (Duffy) Machowski. He is survived by his spouse and longtime partner, Michael Meehan. Besides his spouse Michael, Jack is survived by his sister Deborah Machowski Guimaraes and brother-in-law Carl, of Rehoboth, MA. He is also survived by his nephews, Geoffrey Guimaraes of Cumberland, RI, and Samuel Guimaraes of Rehoboth.
Jack graduated from Tolman High School in Pawtucket in 1960 and Providence College in 1964. Following graduation, Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. Jack furthered his quest for knowledge by earning a degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. He worked for the National Weather Service for over 33 years and retired as a meteorologist in charge of forecast in Marquette MI. Jack then retired to Lake Jovita, Florida, where he played golf six days a week. He would have played seven days, but they closed the course on Monday.
For the past five years, Jack and Michael resided in Manchester, Vermont. John was an active member of the Manchester Country Club, serving as a member of the golf committee as well as chairing the handicap committee, a job no one volunteered for, but he embraced as a Vermont Golf Association certified rules official. Jack also enjoyed assisting in officiating at state and local golf tournaments.
At his request, Jack's funeral and burial will be private.
