John J. Finan, Jr. Esq. of Cumberland and Green Hill, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 8, 2025. He is survived by his loving spouse Anita (Genest) Finan, to whom he was married for sixty-eight years. A graduate of Providence College ('52), and Georgetown Law School ('57), John ran a successful law practice for over 50 years.

An avid traveler, John and Anita made wonderful memories around the world, including several bike trips in Europe and Asia on their tandem bicycle. John's legacy will forever be found in the family memories he created from skiing together at the Balsams, fun at the Pompano, and parties at the beach. He loved sunsets and found beauty in all Gods' wonders. He was a daily communicant, and his faith was his passion.

John was predeceased by his son, John (Jake) Finan, III, and is survived by sons, Michael (Louise), and Jeffrey (Elaine) of South Kingstown, six beloved grandchildren, Brooke Finan, Cara (Ben) Finan Smith, Nicholas (Jenn Bannon) Finan, Margaux (Connor) Finan Mahoney, Shelby (Josh) Finan Blackley, Leigh (Joseph) Finan Carroll and great grandchildren, Charlotte, Caroline and Callahan Smith, Jude and Lila Carroll, Jack and Elsie Finan, and Brooks Mahoney.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited Saturday, April 12th to Saint John Vianney Church, 3587 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, RI at 9:45 AM for words of remembrance of John by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM. The burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
