Jean A. Ruel, 78, of Lincoln, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Rachel (Hebert) Ruel with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Central Falls, RI, Jean was the son of the late Roger and Flore (Proulx) Ruel. He graduated from Central Falls High School, and enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for four years.
He settled in Pawtucket, RI, where he spent most of his life, before recently moving to Lincoln. He worked as a supervisor in the manufacturing industry for many years prior to retirement.
Jean was a devoted husband and a proud dad, and later especially loved being a grandfather. Whether it was a school play, a birthday party, or – his favorite – a basketball game, ‘Pepere’ rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. He also loved spending time on the golf course with his longtime friends at Exeter Country Club. The friendships he built there and the many rounds they shared brought him years of enjoyment and remained one of the great pleasures of his life.
Besides his wife, Rachel, Jean is survived by his son, Justin Ruel, and his wife, Katie; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sabrina, and Christian Ruel. He was the brother of the late Robert Ruel and the twin brother of the late Jeannette Allard. He was also a cherished brother-in-law and uncle.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 12:00 PM Noon in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Visitation will be held prior to the Service, on Friday July 24th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
