Obituary

Janice F. DeGasparre, 83, of Cumberland, RI died peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025. She was the loving wife of Paul F. DeGasparre and they would have been married for sixty years on May 8th of this year. She was born in Central Falls, RI, the daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (O'Hare) Papineau. She was also predeceased by her twin brother, Robert Papineau.

Janice was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church since 1973. Janice, a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, worked as an administrative assistant at several area real estate and insurance companies and at the end of her working career, retired as school secretary for Mercymount Country Day School, a position she liked most. During her retirement years, she enjoyed trips to Florida, Atlantic City, and the northern New England states, but most of all she loved being with members of her family, including days at the beaches of southern Rhode Island, especially Salty Brine Beach, and numerous family gatherings anywhere.

Besides her husband, Janice is survived by three children, Mark DeGasparre and his wife Lisa of Maryland, Paula Testa of South Kingstown, RI and Jill Langevin and her husband Peter of Harrisville, RI and five grandchildren who she loved very much, Mariella Testa, Bryan Testa, Sophia DeGasparre, Nicholas Langevin and Kaitlyn Langevin.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours are on Tuesday, February 4th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road Cumberland.
