Obituary

James A. Booth, 82, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Ozog) Booth. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Raymond and Catherine (Ryder) Booth. He is survived by his children, Kevin Booth, Karen (Booth) Brodeur, James E. Booth and Colleen Booth, son in law, John Brodeur and daughter in law, Lauren Booth. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren. James graduated from Saint Raphael Academy in 1960 and the University of Rhode Island in 1964. He also received a masters degree from Rhode Island College and Providence College. James spent 28 years teaching at Cumberland High School as a medical biology teacher and soccer coach. He then worked as a clinical laboratory manager at the Boston Veterans Medical Center and Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro, MA.

He will be remembered for his love of sailing and beach living, while enjoying the beauty of the coast with his wife and their family.

Jim's adventurous spirit led him to the mountains of New England where he shared his love of hiking and the outdoors with his loved ones during many camping trips and adventures. His competitive nature extended to his dedication as a marathon runner, where he pushed himself to new limits year after year. Jim looked forward to his Tuesday morning golf league where he could enjoy both the game and camaraderie with friends.

Family and friends will always remember his value of hard work, honesty, and his untiring commitment to his wife Joanne, their four children and eight grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a celebration of Jim's life, March 8, 2025 at 4:00 PM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, prior to the service in the O'Neill Funeral Home.
