James Patrick Alger

James Patrick Alger, 78, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, September 6, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edgar R. Alger Jr. and Evelyn R. (Fiske) Alger.

Jame's loved woodworking, dancing, and for the last 17 years, singing karaoke. He's known to his friends as Papi. In fact he has a facebook page named Papi Karaoke Legend. He loved singing songs such as Margaritaville, Let me call you sweetheart & Can't help falling in love, just to name a few. He also enjoyed good conversations with his many friends of all ages.

James is survived by his children, James P. Alger Jr. and Diana L. Alger; six grandchildren; Jessica, Derek, Shane, Alicia, Nathaniel, and Elizabeth. Six great-grandchildren: Deven, Scarlett, Audriana, Delsen, Onyx, and Roselynn. He was the oldest brother to Evelyn Spagnolo, Edgar R. Alger III, Cheryl Alger, Gary Alger, W. Scott Alger, Patricia Alger, Steven Alger, and Melody Alger. He was also father-in-law to Kristina Alger, brother-in-law to John Spagnolo, Maureen Alger, Dori Alger, Linda Alger, and the late Joanne Alger.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral Service on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 361 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the O'Neill Funeral Home.
