Jacqueline M. Bleyer, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at the Holiday Retirement Home on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026 at the age of 98. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Eustache and Lumina (Gamache) Masse. She married John Bleyer, M.D. on September 12, 1959 and was his devoted wife for over 47 years.

Jackie graduated from St. John the Baptist High School, Pawtucket, RI. Her first job was as a telephone operator, and she quickly became a supervisor. She then married John and devoted her life to family, taking loving care of her husband and four sons. Later in life, she worked as a secretary for St. Raymond Church and librarian at Providence College.

She volunteered with her sister Gert at the Red Cross as a Gray Lady, showing movies to injured veterans. She was a devoted Catholic and also volunteered as a record keeper for the Rhode Island Right To Life. She was a great chef, and her specialties included toll house cookies, chicken pot pie, and apple pies. She was an avid player of the card game Chicago, and is the only known player to have ever had a perfect hand (9 cards of one suit). The odds of this are 1 in 5.9 million. (Jackie was really one in a million!)

Jackie always wore a medal of Mary and the baby Jesus, which was passed down from her husband John’s family. This medal was a symbol of her faith and love of family. She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition, Jackie loved and was well-loved by many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

She spent her last three years at the Holiday Retirement Home, where she made many friends. She was well cared for by the loving staff. She at first helped care for her fellow residents, and then her fellow residents helped care for her.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her four boys and their wives: Peter and Susanna Bleyer, Anthony and Kimberly Bleyer, Christopher and Nancy Bleyer, and John and Pamela Bleyer. She is also survived by her sister, Gertrude Robert, twelve grandchildren, Eva Pepe (and husband Nick), Anthony Bleyer, Jr. (and wife Amy), Michael Bleyer (and wife Lauren), Christopher Bleyer (and wife Natalie) Lily Bleyer, Heidi Underwood (and husband Gavin), Anna Maria Bleyer, Nicholas Bleyer, Luke Bleyer (and wife Eva), Grace Bleyer, Peter Bleyer, and Cecilia Bleyer. She also leaves six great-grandchildren Matilda, Magnolia, Valerie, Bridget, Enzo, and Charlotte. She was the sister of the late Bernard Masse, Raymond Masse, Bertrand Masse, Rene Masse, and Claire Gousie.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Saint John The Baptist Church, 69 Quincy Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
