Irene R. Sweeney, 94, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully, March 28, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Sweeney. Born in Manchester, CT, she was the daughter of Leo and Jeannette (Dubuc) Duteau. Irene worked as a bookkeeper for the chemical industry prior to retiring.

She is survived by her children Michael Sweeney and his wife Rita, Dennis Sweeney, and David Sweeney. Irene was the mother of the late Sandra Mecchi.

She also leaves one sister Dorothy Fernaays, 4 grandchildren, Bradford, Michael, David, and Edward Sweeney, and 2 great-grandchildren, Gianna and Alexia Sweeney. She was the grandmother of the late Gregory Sweeney.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 4 ^th , at 11AM in Saint Teresa's Church, 358 Newport Ave, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Visiting hours are 9:30 - 10:30 AM prior to the mass in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage St, Pawtucket.
