Howard E. Leighton Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep to eternal life on January 5, 2024 with his wife by his side. He was the loving husband of Linda (Hood) Leighton. They had been married for over 60 years. Howard was born in Calais, Maine on September 4, 1943 and was the son of Clarence and Ina (Hatt) Leighton. He came from very humble beginnings but had dreams of becoming successful and he did.

Howard worked in textile most of his life. He was everyone's "handyman". If you needed help he would always be there for you. He loved nature, watching the rabbits, squirrels, turkeys and birds and could often be seen feeding them. He also loved cars and could tell you how to take them apart and put them back together and enjoyed sharing with his sons. Howard and Linda enjoyed traveling with their family and friends.

Howard was predeceased by his siblings Kenneth, Mary and Emma. Besides his wife Linda, he leaves two sons, Howard Jr. (Della) of Cumberland and Robert (Helena) of East Providence. He also leaves three grandsons Matthew, Andrew and Daniel as well as two great grandsons.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Historic Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard. His burial will be private.
