Obituary

Our Mom, Helen C. Keough, 95, of Seekonk, MA, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Mom was born in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Shannon) Harty. She married the love of her life, Raymond in 1955. Mom and Dad had five children, Kevin, Patricia, Ellen Jane, Raymond Jr. and our late sister, Maureen.

Mom's family was always her priority. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, caring for them until their passing. Being the mother of five takes love, patience and organization, qualities which Mom had in abundance. She was the Head of the Home Economics Department at Seekonk High School before retiring. Mom threw herself into every project she undertook. Whether it was directing a fashion show for school or organizing a golf tournament at Segregansett Country Club, Mom gave her all. Having a full-time teaching job and being the mother of five, Mom was a very busy woman, but she always found time for friends. Her annual Irish Coffees were a much-desired invite. Mom and Dad enjoyed many activities together including tennis and golf. One of their favorite adventures would be the trip they took to Ireland for their 25th wedding anniversary. They shared everything together for over 60 years.

Mom had many friends. She loved her Book Club and Bridge Club. Mom was a great listener and offered advice when asked. In the last few years, Mom made a new group of friends we called "Helen's Angels." These ladies cared for Mom as if she were their mother. They were committed to her health and happiness and we will never be able to thank them enough for their loving care for Mom.

Mom was a devoted Catholic. She taught CCD, was a Eucharistic Minister and was still sewing Baptism Robes until her passing. Mom had a strong faith in God which saw her through all of life's trials. She recently received a Papal Blessing from Pope Francis on the occasion of her 95th birthday.

She is survived by her children, Kevin Keough and his loving wife Kath, Patricia Lewis, Ellen Jane Wolter and her loving husband Jerome, and Raymond Keough Jr. and his loving wife Lori, her sister, Joan Ballard, her grandchildren, Caroline Keough, Christine Keough, Veronica Irving, Rosie Wolter, Curran Keough, Meghan Rogers, Christopher Semple, Katelyn Semple, Bethany Semple, and Lindsey Semple. She also leaves ten great-grandchildren, Sophia Irving, Madison Keough, Paige Rogers, William Rogers, Wes Vivar, Moe Vivar, Derek Semple, Jack Semple, Ryan Semple, and Owen Semple. Mom was the mother of the late Maureen Semple and the sister of the late Virginia Keough, and William Harty Jr.
