Heather Louise Macomber (Thompson), of Pawtucket, passed into eternal life on October 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a vibrant, tenacious, fiery, and deeply loving woman whose presence touched the lives of so many.

Heather was the devoted wife of Henry F. “Hank” Macomber, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. They were married on October 17, 1982, and throughout their life together, family, friendship, and simply being together were at the heart of everything they did.

Heather was a graduate of Arthur Angelo’s School of Cosmetology and proudly owned and operated her own beauty salon for more than 27 years. She later embarked on another chapter with Hank when they purchased Kip’s Restaurant in Pawtucket, which they owned and operated together for 25 years. Heather brought the same determination, warmth, and unmistakable personality to everything she did.

Those who knew Heather will remember her for her fierce honesty, her big heart, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. If you walked through her door, chances were there was a meal waiting for you. Cooking and feeding the people she loved was one of the ways Heather showed just how much she cared. Her home was a place where family and friends could gather, laugh, eat, and feel loved.

Heather and Hank cherished their time with family and friends above all else. As long as they were together with the people they loved, they were happy.

Heather was a shopper at heart and had a special love for purses and shoes—a love she happily shared with her daughter. As a child, she loved the beach, music, and dancing. Her faith carried her through both the good times and the difficult ones. She also loved decorating her home for the holidays and opening her doors to family and friends, creating traditions and memories that will live on.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Grafton Thompson; her mother, Stama Zachary (Mastrantonis); her brother, Joseph Zachary; and her sister, Ann E. Temple (Zachary). She leaves behind her beloved husband, Henry F. “Hank” Macomber; her daughter, Sharro Louise Perron Laurent, her husband, Warren; and her grandchildren, Devin Rastelli, Alexander Rastelli, Lawson Laurent, and Mollie-Shae Laurent, along with her great-granddaughter, Pandora. She also leaves behind her stepdaughter, Angee Sullivan, and her husband, Larry, and their daughter, Jennifer Sullivan; her stepson, Brandon Macomber, and his wife, Tammy, and their children, Curtis, Caleb, Paige, and Piper; her brother, Paul Zachary, and his wife, Sharyn; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.

Heather also leaves behind her beloved cat, Precious, who brought her comfort and companionship. Heather was an avid animal lover, and although she had been unable to have pets in recent years, her love for animals never wavered. Throughout her life, her beloved pets—including Nicky Cat, Candace Kane, and Sir Henry of Evergreen—held a very special place in her heart.

Heather leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, family traditions, strong opinions, wonderful stories, and countless people who were better for having known her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the love she gave so freely will continue through her family, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Her burial will be in the Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, R.I.

The calling hours for Heather will be on Wednesday morning prior to the service, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Heather’s memory to A.D.O.P.T. Inc. (Animals Depend On People Too), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping animals and the people who care for them.

Rest peacefully, Heather. Your fight is over, but your love, your laughter, and your memory will live on forever.
