Gloria M. (Aveno) McCorry, 101, passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 11, 2024 at Lincolnwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in North Providence, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. McCorry, Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, where she resided for her entire life, Gloria was the daughter of the late C. Frank and Carmela (DelVecchio) Aveno.
She leaves her son, Robert E. McCorry, Jr. and his wife Claire of Cumberland, and her daughter, Marsha A. Goulet and her husband, Robert of Pawtucket. In addition, she leaves her six grandchildren, Brendan McCorry and his wife Sheila of North Attleboro, MA, Evan Goulet and his wife Emily of Minneapolis, MN, Bryan McCorry and his wife Amy of Needham, MA, Lauren Bianchi and her husband Christopher of Cumberland, Kathryn Bacon and her husband Jason of Pawtucket, and Leslie Keenaghan and her husband Kevin of Seekonk, MA. Gloria was the best Gigi to her eleven great-grandchildren.
As the matriarch of the family, Gloria imparted many valuable lessons, the greatest of which were the significance of family and the joy of spending time with loved ones. She had a gift for simple elegance, which was reflected in her watercolor paintings, lovingly tended gardens, carefully hand-knit sweaters, and delicious homemade Italian meals. Gloria took immense pride in everything she did, a dedication that also shone in her job as an assistant buyer in giftware at Apex Department Store in Pawtucket, where she worked for over 25 years.
