Gladys M. Walmsley, 93, of Providence, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully May 14, 2022. She was the wife of the late Harold Walmsley. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Estelle (Chafee) Arruda.
In 1951, Gladys and her husband, Harold moved into a new house in Pawtucket, a great neighborhood where the doors were kept unlocked, children always playing in the streets and mothers sitting around the kitchen table morning, noon, and night playing cards. It's no secret that Gladys loved her family, nothing made her happier than her grandchildren and knowing that her daughter Judy was a grandmother as well. She loved her friends, playing cards and last but not least, an audience to make people laugh. Gladys won't mind if you shed a tear or two at her passing, but what would really make her happy is the memory of her bringing you a smile and a good laugh.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Dorsman (Abraham), her grandchildren, Alison Brooks (Joshua) and Jeffrey Dorsman. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Everett Brooks.
The funeral and burial will be private.
Donations may be made in honor of Gladys, to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO BOX 515, Northampton, MA 01061.
