Gertrude F. McGinnis, 96, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert McGinnis, who passed away in 2008. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (McNulty) Walsh. Gertrude was a schoolteacher in the Cumberland School Department for 33 years, retiring in 1997.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Majkujt, Kolleen McGinnis, and Kristine Bettencourt, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Fournier, Edward Walsh, and Joseph Walsh.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, January 13th from 9:00 – 10:20 AM in the O'Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland.

Burial will take place immediately following the Mass, in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
