Obituary

Gerard "Jerry" U. Ducharme, 95, of Pawtucket passed into eternal life on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was the husband of the late Anna (Biagioni) Ducharme. Jerry was born in Central Falls, the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Lemieux) Ducharme. He was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Kabbaze, Marie-Rose Ducharme, Bertha Ducharme, and his brother Henry Ducharme.

Jerry is survived by his three children, daughter Margaret Indell (husband, Kenneth), son Dennis (wife Irma), and son Walter (wife Renee). Jerry had six grandchildren: Scott Ducharme (wife Emma) from Oklahoma, Melissa Andrade (husband Ed) from Texas, Keith Ducharme from Tennessee, Christopher Leonard from Texas, Kaitlyn Bowman (husband Josh) from Florida, and Nicolette Ducharme from Rhode Island. He was blessed to have many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry served in Company H, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and saw combat. He earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the Sharpshooter Badge, and the Korean Service Medal with 4 bronze service stars (each service star represents a separate campaign). The Combat Infantry Badge is one of the most respected Army combat awards. It is awarded only to infantry soldiers, the soldier must have actively fought in ground combat, and enemy contact was required. Jerry was a frontline infantryman who engaged the enemy and spent a significant amount of time in dangerous, forward positions.

In the Korean War era, receiving the CIB was a big deal, and still is today.

Jerry was known for his infectious smile and laughter, his quick wit and his charming personality. You loved him the minute you met him. He always had a great outlook on life, and he continued to live independently surrounded by family and friends. He prepared his own meals and loved to drive to House of Pizza, KFC, Jersey Mikes, and visit Slater Park. He was, and always will be a die-hard Patriots fan who was recently interviewed by WPRI-12. He was an active member of Four Corners Community Chapel in Cumberland. He will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Funeral Service for on Friday, February 13th at 10:00 AM in the Swan Point Cemetery Chapel, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. His burial will follow with full Military Honors. There will be visitation for Jerry on Thursday, February 12th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM in the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.
