George O. Phillips Jr. 75, of East Providence R.I. (formerly of Pawtucket) passed away on Tuesday June 16th, 2026, suddenly at Rhode Island Hospital after battling with respiratory illness.

George is remembered as a proud yet stubborn man, he took much pride in the fact that he was a veteran serving in the Vietnam War as a flight medic. George enjoyed many things; he was a lifelong and devoted WASHINGTON REDSKINS FAN (not the commanders). He also enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR events. He spent many of Sundays sitting with his friends at a local pub cheering on his favorite team, player or driver and had no problem telling you what he thought of yours very loudly at times. George could also be found at a card table where he enjoyed a game of Hi Lo jack or Texas Hold’Em. However, nothing in life made him happier than the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, he loved to brag about them and their achievements to anyone who would listen. George spent his whole life as professional painter working for a hand full of companies but also running his own company for many years. In his retirement he worked as a part time bartender at Amvets Post 33 and Duffin’s Pub.

Born in Providence, George was the son of the late Dorothy (Duckworth) and George Olney Phillips Sr. He was predeceased by his brother Gerald Phillips, his sister Janice (Phillips) Jones and his son George Onley Phillips III.

George is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cheryl DeBlois, his children Amanda Carroll, her husband Bruce, and their children, Elijah Torres, Olivia and Jackson Carroll; Nathaniel Phillips, and his son Seth Barnes; Nicholas Phillips, his children Landen and Baylea Phillips and their stepmother Alexis Evans; Jared DeBlois and wife Jessica; His sisters Laurie Riley and Joanne Robert, along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Visitation on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Manning-Heffern-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be private.

In true George fashion, he will be dressed in his REDSKINS attire and the family respectfully encourages you to come wearing your favorite teams clothing as well.
