George Edward Dutertre, 74, of North Providence passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Norma (Lamothe) and Edward Dutertre.
George worked as a shipper/receiver in the Supply Industry for many years following his service in the Navy. George was a drummer in the West Senior High School band and also played in the Navy band. George had many hobbies. He loved building computers, videography, bowling, pool, and golf. In his final act of kindness, George chose to be an organ donor so that others may live. He was the kindest and most selfless person, who never spoke an unkind word and who found his greatest joy in the time spent with his family.
George is survived by his siblings Rose DelRicci and her husband Thomas, and Robin Hoskins and her husband Richard. He leaves behind several nieces and a nephews as well.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Saint Philip’s Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will follow at RI Veteran’s Cemetery, 301 S. County Road, Exeter.
Visitation will take place prior to the Mass, on May 27th, from 9:00 - 10:15 AM in the O’Neill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island.
