Obituary

Estelle Fay Lovejoy, 86, of Warwick, East Providence and Pawtucket, passed away peacefully December 11, 2022. She was the cherished wife of the late Edward L. Lovejoy. Born in Clinton Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Estelle (Mosso) Perkins. She was the longtime loving companion of Robert C. Franklin of Exeter. She is survived by her daughters, Karen O'Brien and her husband Michael, Pamela (Nelson) Burkett, and Michelle Pimental and her husband Richard, her grandchildren, Norman Nilsson, Christopher Burkett, Anthony Melillo, and Cassandra (Paulette) Macias. She leaves two great-grandchildren, Dana Nilsson and Norman Nilsson Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Norman W. Nelson Jr. and the sister of the late Arthur "Ray" Perkins and Gail M. Cunningham.

Fay was a dedicated community volunteer, a Troop Leader for the Girl & Cub Scouts when her kids were young and a Foster Grandparent through the East Bay program after retirement, landing at the Barrington YMCA. She made friends from 1 to 99 years old. Fay volunteered for many years with the Exeter Volunteer Fire Company Station 2 Women's Auxiliary, making easy work of whatever was needed done at the time. She served the Elks for greater than 30 years, first through the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smithfield Elks Lodge #2359, then as an Emblem Club member for the same Smithfield Elks Lodge. She served on many committees and held various offices including President on three occasions. She was lastly a member of the Providence Emblem Club #1 through 2022.

Fay retired from the Sample Department at Narragansett Coated Paper Corporation/Ecological Fibers, Inc. and she was always remembered, invited and celebrated at the yearly company Christmas party in Leominster Massachusetts with her daughter. Fay was active with the Spirited Seniors with monthly luncheons and fun. She remained with the Food Bank with the other volunteers at St. Leo's Church until the COVID-19 pandemic changed operations. Fay was well known for her love of God, family, and Irish music. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She loved to bake, especially for others and was known state-wide for her Irish bread and homemade fudge. If you've never had either, you certainly missed out! Fay was a Silver Sneakers member and was chosen to represent Rhode Island in Washington DC to advocate for those with arthritis, as she knew all too well. Fay will be
greatly missed by family and friends, she will be remembered for her kindness and she
was a guardian angel to many.

She was a communicant and active member of St. John Paul II Parish after the merging of Saint Leo the Great Church. The family would like to thank Cedar Crest Nursing Centre, Generations Unit for their compassionate care, and Continuum Care of Rhode Island for their hospice care.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 20th at 10:00 AM in Saint Cecilia Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 722 Central Avenue, Pawtucket.
