Obituary - Erik (aka Eric) Olson

Free spirit, kind, funny, caring, adventuror, gardener, great cook, handsome were some of the words describing Erik Olson who died on 2/4/22. Erik, even at 61, maintained a youthful spirit despite fighting the debilitating effects of Lupus in the last few years. He toughed it out, learned about it, and adapted his life to make do with it. His last day was a good one, and then it ended.

He leaves his son Byron Erik Olson, his mother, Susan and her husband Michael Glossop, his father Raymond and his wife Joanne,and many friends and cousins. Erik kept in regular touch with people he cared about.

Because of his illness Erik had not been able to work in recent years. When he did work he was a skilled Arborist who found art in climbing and pruning tall trees. He lived and worked for many years in Finland, building miniature golf courses on cruise ships and making many Finnish friends. For many years he has beena member ofthe Portuguese American Club in Providence and took particular pride in keeping"The Club's"garden going.

Erik had a way of keeping us all aware of life and we will miss him greatly.

There will be a celebration of Erik's life in the spring. The update will be provided here and other social media at that time.
